ELEVEN YEARS, ONE CHANNEL!
Today marks our 11th year in marriage.
I'm supposed to be happy and feeling good, throwing a party and celebrating with hubby, family and friends right?
Well, as I lay in bed early this morning beside the man I said "I do" to 11years ago, staring at the ceiling, watching the fan blades chase each other in an unending race, all I think about is "Divorce".
I vividly recall our meeting back in the Den, UNN, precisely The Faculty of Arts, Department of Mass Communication about 15 years ago.
We were already friends but then he was trying to woo me for one of his friends.
How ironic!
So far, our union has been blessed with two of the world's smartest kids and I'm eternally grateful for that.
I must confess it hasn't been a very smooth journey all through but then staying together for eleven years?
That's a huge one!
Have I ever thought of leaving?
Yes!
I'm sure he's also thought same because truth be told we have our individual shortcomings.
What amazes me most is how we're still able to stay sane with all the wonderful and crazy events that take place in our lives at the same time.
Wondering why I'm thinking of divorce?
Well, that's what we hear in the news everyday about couples.
The excuse is "irreconcilable differences".
Sincerely, we've had our own share of that and yes we were somehow able to pull through it.
And we're still pulling through daily.
If anyone tells you marriage is a bed of roses, that person has a high table in " Hell".
I ain't mincing words.
Do we love each other? Yes, we do.
But do we provoke each other? Yes we do.
A million times, though unintentionally, I must add.
It's a mixture of the good, the bad and the ugly.
But we try to ensure the good outweighs the rest. Shikina!
So before you say "I do", make sure you're ready to take the good, the bad and the ugly.
I don't want to bore you with an epistle anyway.
More marriage gist coming your way soonest.
Happiest Wedding Anniversary to The Tory Teller and her Hubby!
And Yes I love him recklessly!
P.S His lips still taste like pomo!

I love this write up. Keep it up. I must confess, it is not easy, if there is anyone that has ever thought of divorce, that person is me, infact, it is never an easy road. Very tough road to pass through. But in all, I thank God. Happy wedding anniversary to you both
ReplyDeleteThanks dear. In all honesty, it can only be God.
DeleteThe thought of leaving will always come up especially whenever there is a misunderstanding or disagreement. But you need to remind yourselves why you chose your spouse disregarding all the others.
If you can answer this question again, it can help you get your groove back.
Also do not hesitate to communicate always, it helps.
Please take time to read the series "Why did i get Married?" on this blog, I hope it will help you.
Remember The Tory Teller loves you, feel free to reach out to me whenever you need a listening ear or support.
Cheers to a Happy You!
