MAY TO THE WORLD!

Hey People,

It's the 1st day of the month of May. This day is very special to me not only because it's a new month or because it usually is Worker's Day celebration worldwide but it marks a great remembrance for me.

On this day 11 years ago I started my journey to motherhood as I welcomed my first child, Chiamaka Precious into the world. If you haven't read about that story you can do so here

So today my daughter turns 11. Now that's how long I've been a mother. Wow! I think I qualify for an award you know, she turned out well if you ask me.

My daughter and I have always shared a special bond from the day she was born being that she was an early birthday gift for me.

She came a day before my birthday. Yep! You guessed right. Tomorrow's my birthday and Boy! Am I excited? You bet I am.

This is supposed to be a pre-birthday post but my daughter takes today's shine.

I'm glad for the young lady she is growing into and I won't lie but she has been giving me a run for my money I must confess.

She has made me constantly seek out ways to be a better mother on daily basis. In all sincerity being the mother of a smart and inquisitive girl like Presh has been both challenging and enlightening.

I am always on the look out for information because she doesn't spare me when it comes to asking questions that some people regard as inappropriate.

Can you imagine that when she was about 5 years old, she asked me, "Mummy what is Ejaculation and Staphylococcus?" Sounds crazy right?

Well that was when I realized that I had to think 5 steps ahead if I really wanted to be  an up-to-date mum to Presh. I immediately started the sex education talk with her and we have not stopped having such discussions till date.

Now I have become an expert in giving children sex education, after undergoing several trainings in early childhood education as a result of my daughter's growing curiosity. Feel free to ask me any question on that.

Today I am super proud to be her mum and I wouldn't trade that for anything in spite of all her naughtiness once in a while. After all the Bible already stated that naughtiness is in the heart of a child. So I try to count it all joy, hahaha. Not easy though.

She reminds me a lot about myself and I do not doubt that there's a major part of me that she reflects. Being the offspring of 2 Journalists, it is only natural for her to exhibit certain characters such as a passion for reading, writing, engaging in discussions and of course telling stories.

Another Tory Teller in the making!

So today I am giving a big shout out to my first fruit, Presh, and my prayer is that she continues to grow in wisdom, favour and understanding beyond her equals. It is also my earnest desire that she remains a blessing to our family, community and the world at large.

It's a New Month y'all, the month of May for that matter. I am very optimistic that there will be good news soon especially as regards the pandemic ravaging the world presently.

May the month of May bring healing to the world and restoration for all we have lost.
