Howdy! My Darling Tory lovers!
I hope your weekend was as awesome as mine.
It's a new week, the last one in the month of July and yeah, I'm super excited about dropping this for y'all hoping it'll cheer you up a bit and prep you for the week ahead.
Should I call it a Monday motivation? Nah, I don't think so, besides, motivation isn't for Monday alone. And you don't always need someone to remind you how important it is for you to keep putting one foot in front of the other until you get there.
What I am implying is that, I am my motivation and inspiration.
Yep, I said that. I am not waiting for anyone to tell me what's best for me, no, the season of 'perspire to aspire' is over. Every morning, I wake up and tell myself what I need to always remember, and that is the fact that I'm not yet there, so I've got no option than to keep moving.
As for me, it's either I move or... I move, periodt!
Let me share something intimate with you. I know you like gist!
The past 2 weeks have been very troubling and stressful for me. Pressure from work, home and business was seriously weighing me down. I was fighting what seemed like an unending war with myself on a pressing life changing decision I urgently had to make and frankly speaking, I kinda felt I was losing it.
I had prayed about it but was yet to receive any form of calmness so I thought about taking a vacation. Hmm. I am sure you are wondering what kind of vacation I could be talking about in this Corona era. Well, I decided to go spend some time with my folks. You know, just take a few days off work and everything.
As expected, I had a talk with my husband and he agreed to watch the kids while I get some soul searching time. It was the best thing that happened to me. You know there are times when you need a break, just to relax and be taken kiarof! I hope you understand what I mean.
So last Thursday after work I headed to my parents' place. Good a thing they stay here in Lagos so I didn't have to travel far. Spending the weekend with them was a refreshing, relaxing and rejuvenating choice, I must confess.
My grandma was there too, she has been in Lagos for some years now. Lucky me right? I am blessed indeed. I sat at her feet and we talked about almost everything. I was waiting for her to say something about the number of kids I have because that has always been a matter close to her heart.
I recall 5 years ago when I had my son, she visited me and told me that I should ensure I break the jinx of 2 children in my husband's family, because my mother in-law had just 2 children. Grandma specifically told me that that could be part of the reasons God sent me to that family after all I come from a large family.
She reminded me that my mum had 7 children and she had 11 so it was in my gene to have lots of children. According to her, "I am blessed with fertility!" Hmm. I was just nodding my head to all she said. Who am I to argue with grandma? I am just a small girl o. Upcoming mother for that matter.
Anyway, Grandma and I had long talk sessions and to the glory of God she didn't ask for more grandchildren. Her words were, "Everyone should have the number of children they can comfortably take care of!"
Having heard her say that, I think this issue of more children has finally come to an end. We can now share the grace on this matter. Hahaha.
Long story short, my weekend getaway was splendid, especially since I didn't go with my children, of course they would have taken the shine. I returned home after my Dado had released anointing on me and I really do feel reinvigorated, re-energized and ready to face the rest of the year.
Now I am sharing this to let you know that there is nothing wrong in pampering or giving yourself a good treat. Life is too short to allow stress get the best of you, there should be a time to retreat, reevaluate things and refuel so that you don't get exhausted and burn out.
So this is me wishing you a productive week ahead and trusting that every effort you make will be crowned with success. I love you and I am rooting for you!
More gist coming up shortly. Stay with The Tory Teller and tell someone to do same. What anniversary gift do you want?
